186. World Prematurity Day

For all of the preemies fighting to survive at Kosair, and for all of the mamas fighting to stay pregnant at Norton’s Downtown (aka the mothership).

For Cheryl, whose babies all came way too early, especially that sweet little Layla (babies just aren’t meant to be born at 24 weeks).

For my little Maddie Belle, who threatened to come early for ten weeks (kept you in to 36 weeks on the dot!).

I would love to never see a premature baby born again.  I would love to never have to have to use an ambu bag on a 500 gram baby again.  I would love to never see 23 week triplets born and wonder if they will survive through my shift.  I would love to see all babies make it to at least 37 weeks.

Here’s a pray for an end to premature deliveries.
