173. The boy bathroom smell

Over the last few months, our living room bathroom has developed a nasty stale pee smell that just won’t go away.  How disgusting is that?!  It doesn’t seem to matter what I clean that bathroom with.  The stink always returns.  I changed cleansers.  I bought one of those blue things that stays in.  I even bought an air freshener for the bathroom.  All commercial grade, chop full of chemicals.  While they helped, those products still didn’t get rid of the nasty smell.

Enter Pinterest.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, Pinterest!  A trick to get rid of the so called “boy bathroom smell”.  Only time will tell how well this pin worked, but at this point in time, no pee smell!  I’m not sure if this needs to be my weekly toilet cleansing method or every so often.  Again, only time will tell.  For now, I’m enjoying a fresh smelling bathroom.

How to get rid of the Boy Bathroom Smell

Step 1: Mix a paste of baking soda and lemon juice. The consistency of the paste should be about that of pancake mix.  Mine fizzed for a few seconds and smelled delightful.

Step 2: Spread the paste all along the bottom of the toilet {where it meets the floor}, the toilet seat, and any other area is in danger of being sprayed with pee. Let it set for about 10-15 minutes.

Step 3: When your 15 minutes are up, spray the dried paste with white vinegar and let it fizzle. Once it is done fizzing wipe it up with a damp cloth.
